There's so much work to be done! But who should turn up but Rumpelstiltskin, a funny wee man who is always ready to give a helping hand. It just so happens that most of the washing is from his story. With a cast of clothes pegs, a bulging wash basket and the odd colourful sock, Ailie Cohen - the Mistress of the Laundry - returns with this very successful production that audiences all over the UK and abroad have greatly enjoyed. A true folk and Celtic music legend, and 3 times world champion of uilleann pipes, Finbar is best known as lead singer of ‘The Fureys’. He is also widely known for his vocal contribution of ‘New York Girls’ in the hit film ‘Gangs of New York.’ This fantastic performance includes some of the hits of his past such as Sweet Sixteen and Lonesome Boatman, and some great new songs. This will be a wonderful evening of Irish folk music not to be missed. The Water Kelpie of Loch Ness Saturday 17 April Paisley Arts Centre 2pm £5 BOOK NOW Ages 5 - 12 This is a tale about one man’s quest to seek out the Loch Ness monster or water kelpie - which in darker ancient times has been terrorising the local countryside. He outwits the shape-shifting water horse and takes away its powers, but in doing so he inherits strong and magical abilities of his own! A new production from one of Scotland’s leading companies using soundscapes inspired by Gaelic song, gentle and engaging storytelling, beautifully created puppets and striking animation. ‘It was brilliant. Since appearing on BBC television aged 14 singing ‘The Tennessee Flat Top Box’, Roger Dean has been playing Cash’s music most of his life. Accompanied by ‘The Lazy Boys’ he perfectly captures the spirit of Johnny Cash, performing classic numbers such as Big River, Ring of Fire, I Walk the Line, and Sunday Morning Coming Down. “Tenderness and fun, style and verve .and oh, what songs!” The Financial Times Exhibitions and Activities Exhibition: A Celebration of Science Until Sat 8 May Paisley Musuem £Free 2010 sees the 350th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Society, the organisation dedicated to furthering scientific knowledge through experiments and discussions. The society continues to honour those who have made a substantial contribution to their chosen subject by electing them Fellows of the Royal Society. This exhibition will take a look at elected Fellows from Renfrewshire, giving a brief overview of their lives and scientific achievements. Artefacts relating to the Fellows and their sciences will be on display and there will be some hands-on interactive science experiments to try out!
